Q. Is it alright for the trial to take 500 consecutive deliveries of women who have already
delivered and enter them again in the intrapartum software programme? A. That is exactly what we would recommend Q. Is ethical approval required for the trial project? A. Every unit must discuss this with their local ethics committee whose recommendation will be final. However because the woman's information has already been collected on paper or electronically then their consent may not be required. However the ethics committee will likely need to be reassured regarding the security of the data. Q. How do we define and collect the time of diagnosis of labour? A. The definition of the diagnosis of labour is a local decision. It should be included in the list of policies and procedures which eventually will be a separate section of the programme for each individual unit. The time of objective vaginal examination that confirms that diagnosis is the time that we recommend you use as the time of the diagnosis of labour. We do not recommend subjective estimation based on the duration of the period of contractions. |
